Most modern dynamic linking schemes are accomplished in the
linked in startup code (crt0.o). This requires the OS service
of mapping a file into the process address space.
For non-virtual page mappings, the older scheme of mapping the
libraries at fixed locations in everyones address space (ala the
AT&T UNIX PC -- which had PM, "DLL"'s, and bitmapped graphics)
requires the OS to do the work as part of the exec loader.
