FYI Windows multitaksed BEFORE win3.0.  
Windows386 did in the late 80's.  

That was the  high end version of windows2.x.  I ran it.  
It was rotten as a multitasker.  When I picked OS/2 1.0 
for my OS I was looking and trying all alternatives!
I still am and still run OS/2
  
Windows386 stunk.  I ran OS/2 and sometimes booted in 
Deskview since OS/2's 1.x DOS penality box had no EMS 
support and I sometimes needed EMS in 1-2-3.

Later 1-2-3 for Dos/OS/2 arrived.  It was a bound application
that was capable of running on either system -- like MS's
compiler software.  Remember, MS used OS/2 to build Windows 
3.0 apps and did not use not windows itself.  

Ain't OS/2 history marvelous?
