MS Word and Excel run on SGI's the same way that Photoshop does. The Mac
binary is run through
a translator, which allows it to run on the SGI. If you look at the
dialog boxes, they look suspiciously like the
Mac ones.

I've seen a flyer for the company that makes the translator (they
advertise "endorsed by Microsoft" copies of Excel and Word), I'm sorry to
say that I don't remember the name of the company.

To do the same for Linux would involve porting the translator and the
library that mimics Mac functions on X.
