I don't know about the numbers which care about having the source, but
those of us who care care a whole lot. I find just about any documentation
so unreliable that whenever I really need to get close to the OS I then
need to read the relevent source. That's what the source is, the ultimate
documentation.

The source is also the ultimate QA. If I think something is behaving a bit
strange then I want to go have a look and see what's really going on.

The source is also the utlimate security tool. If I think some algorithm
is a bit flakey, or too well known then I can go tweek it so that some
cracker isn't going to find exactly the expected.
