I want to do fortran and C software development for unix machines, and run scientific production codes in the unix environment, but I also want to write my papers and do some of the data analysis on MacOS. And I really want to do these things on my desktop machine and also on a portable machine (or perhaps a single dockable machine ;-), and I want to do them at the same time in different windows. And this isn't anything new, I've wanted to do this for about 10 years now since I first started using the Mac. There has always been talk that this would be possible (from DEC, and then Cray, and most recently from the IBM/APPLE/MOTO PPC alliance), but it hasn't happened yet. $.02 -Ron Shepard
