MS trained IBM on 32 bit OS coding? That's the funniest thing I've
seen in a long time. First off, the only real Operating System that
MS ever worked on was Xenix back around 1982 (when they got it working
on a real 32-bit chip, the Motorola 68000). Everything else MS had
done is a BDPL (Brain-Damaged Program Loader).

This is not meant to support IBM because they haven't been at the
forefront of OS technology either. The first main frame I used
extensively was a Burrough B-5500 which used 48-bit single precision,
was the first machine designed from the ground up to use a high level
language (ALGOL), and used virtual memory at least 7 years before IBM
invented thrashing and called it VM. Burrough's MCP (Master Control
Program) was vastly superior to the IBM OS/360. My last main frame
was a Burrough B-3800 which ran an average of 20 programs simultaneously
with real pre-emptive multitasking in 200KB (yes that's kiloBYTES)
total memory.

One of the major problems in the computer industry today is that most
of the ``programmers'' grew up using Micros, think BASIC is a
programming language, and have no experience with real Operating
Systems. This is not to say that they're stupid, just ignorant.
