There are two newer distributions, neither of which I have installed - Caldera & Linux FT, They are reported to be easier than both Yggdrasil & Slackware. : The original poster claimed linux was easy and began describing : downloading disk images. : I replied with my CD based experience that linux was equivalent at best. Downloading a slackware distribution can be a pain, especially when the ftp software insists on converting ASCII files to DOS format when they download, as certain software does. However, I have found that downloading the slackware set is more difficult than installing it when talking to UNIX beginners.
