You ARE aware that WinG bears no resemblance to DirectDraw, are you?
WinG is simply a method of quickly blasting bitmaps.  DirectDraw is
quite a bit more comprehensive, including support for 2D acceleration
for cards that supply a DirectDraw driver.

And how do you have proof that Microsoft used the Mac's API as a
"model" for WinG?  WinG was simply the first step in improving the
desirability of games under 95.  I seriously doubt the Mac's method of
writing direct to the screen sent Microsoft scrambling, for god sakes.
Microsoft simply wants 95 to be a great gaming platform, they see the
bucks.  WinG was one small step in that direction.
