: Pardon??
: I'm using System 7.5 on my '030 IIci and it runs somewhat *faster* than
: System 7.1 did. I have seen postings in comp.sys.mac.system from folks

: Check your facts, David.

David mentioned that 95 would run as well on the 386 as 7.5
runs on an 030. I would have to agree. Both are useable but
neither is a pleasant experience.

If David thinks 7.5 runs like a dog, then it quite probably
does. What you may think is speedy isn't necessarily speedy
in anyone elses opinion. Several friends think Win95 on 386
boxes is just fine. Several friends would rather gnaw their
own legs off. Speed is a fairly subjective thing.

: Again - check your facts, David.

: I would *hope* your 386-33 would "blow away" the LC since it is a 16MHz
: 68020 machine - the closest equiavlent PC would be a 16 MHz 80286 PC.

Stop telling people to check their facts when you should be
checking yours. The 68020 was released in 1984. However the
80286 was released in 1982. When you consider how quick the
CPU market changes, 2 years is literally ages.

The closest to the 80286 would be the 68010. They were both
released at about the same time with about the same reasons
behind the design. But you should really be comparing 040's
to 486's; they are much more comparable and way more recent.

: My *25MHz* 68030 IIci will "blow away" that 386-33 of yours. No problemo.

Not true. From my experience, the IIci running MacOS 7.5 is
roughly as useful as the 386-33 using Microsoft WFWG. There
may be some debate as to which is really faster, though the
chance of the IIci blowing anything away is highly unlikely.

Why, he wondered, did so many people spend their lives not trying to
find answers to questions - not even thinking of questions, to begin
with? Was there anything more exciting in life than finding answers?
