: Thanks for the insight, Chilton. Could you tell me specifically what
: company you work for? I'd like to make sure we never buy any of the apps
: you create, since you assure us they will be inferior for this inferior
: OS. Of course, we really don't need to, since there are so many
: free MS TCP/IP apps and shareware apps that have (for years) overcome the

: important to recommend your honesty to your CEO, so he can appreciate your
: altruistic bent in ignoring the OS that commands about 90% of the market.

Nice try - would be even nicer if you had a clue wtf you were (or he was)
talking about.

Lets see - like you said, there are tons of free apps...
Say it takes them 4x as long to develop something for W95 as it does for
the Mac. Ok - your W95 cost is now 4x the Mac cost. Now lets say you
can get 80% of the Mac market because nothing exists there yet, but only
5% of the W95 market (which is nowhere near 90% btw) because of all the
free apps... First of all, lets place W95 at the curren and projected
positions by the end of the year - current - ~1million - 10% of the Mac
market? (I'm assuming 10mil Macs, since he did say it would run on all
macs out there... though I don't really know exactl numbers)... or 200%
by the end of the year - assuming that 20mil projection still holds out.

He _still_ needs to see 4x the number of W95 apps to get back his costs
as he does to sell the Mac apps... but there are only 2x as many W95
machines - and since all that 'free' software is there, the demand isn't
there as well. (I guess I didn't really need most of the numbers I
stated above).

Makes good business sense to me... I can't state anything more specific
because Chilton didn't either - but unfortunately, neither can you.

Heh - maybe all the free W95 apps will be inferior than his product
anyway - in which case it doesn't matter where you get them :)
