Max Bell (mbell@atheria.europa.com) spake thusly:
[snip]
: I'm curious: does the
: 68040 not incorporate any new opcodes compared to the 68030, or do software
: developers just refrain from using them (or provide multiple versions of
: routines that would be affected)?
There are only about four or five opcodes (not including FPU calls) on
the '040 tht aren't supported on the '030 or '020. Ironically, the
'020 and '030 support about six or seven opcodes that were removed from
the '040 and '060. No great loss, really.
