Microsoft only makes their money b/c of advertisement and inflated
prices. Apple/Mac would have been better off now if they had publicized
their code earlier so more software would be available. Microsoft also
is well off financially b/c of their monopoly with vendors (Packard Bell
and all those piece of crap store computers). Packard Bell is sort of
like Windows, though. Their computers were built soley for
advertisement. Two businessmen (I think 2, but not sure) got a few
computer engineers together and told them to come up with the cheapest
computer they could build that would actually work. They then had to
come up with a good name. So, they took the Packard (sp?) out of Hewlett
Packard and the Bell from Ma Bell (obviously) trying to get people to
think that the PB was a merger between HP and Bell Phones. They're now
one of the best selling computers for people first buying a computer b/c
they're at WalMart's and KMart's all over.
