The argument that Macs last longer is certainly a good one. They
were built to last, both in sense of hardware and software.

I have donated an old Mac Plus with 4 Mb RAM, a 60 Mb disk,
Sys 7.0.1 and WriteNow 3.0 to a person who is very happy with,
certainly better served than by a 286 with Word.
I still have a PowerBook 100 that I use on trips, works fine.
I don't have any of these old 386 machines...

Wintel machines become obsolete with every new release of Windoze.
Copland will run only on PowerPC, but until now every Mac ever made
can run the lastest system software with no major performance penalty.
