I've seen in a couple different sources that the PC has very bad memory
management. When it starts paging to it's hard drive it continues to do so
even if real memory has freed up. This was with 3.1 so it may have been a
limitation of that os. However, I've come across other data that use different
oses and they've reported the same problem. I have come across "good" reports
also that virtual memory shuts off when real memory is available again. Can
anyone shed a bit o' light on this since I have conflicting data?

That's with *any* system. Real 60ns (or better :) memory is *always*
better than grinding away on the hard disk.
