Apple is between 7.5-10% depending on the quarter. Easily twice that of Gateway. I think the PC market will shake out to 10-20 main suppliers: IBM, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, Micron, DEC, NEC, Intel, HP and possibly Sony. Most of the smaller cloners will vanish like Insight and CompuAdd. The majority of vendors will be Intel-OEM shops using 100% Intel-supplied motherboards (like Gateway and Dell). I think Apple will be marginalized to the point that they are purchased either outright or they will license their software technology away to another company such as Sun or SGI. I also think a totally new platform will show up before 2000 that is totally incompatible with today's systems. WT
