We <ANC> sell PC systems and the one big factor that entices sales is that the components are non-proprietary and there is built in flexibility. If a 486 owner wants to upgrade his system, he can buy a Pentium Motherboard for $199 - with Pipeline Burst Cache SRAM on board. The Pentium75 CPU is $120. This board includes Video, HDD cntrl, FDD cntrl., 2 hispeed serials, 1 parallel port. If a MacII motherboard should fail or the buyer wants more speed what can he do? How about a IIci, or IIcx. Now don't tell me that they don't fail, because I owned a MacII and IT FAILED - I was told by Apple that thier repair policy was my ONLY choice. They wanted $900 to replace my motherboard with a new or REFURBISHED one. My PC friends were buying new motherboards for thier replacements that they did for kicks - and not for neccessity. I cried bloody murder and left the Apple world forever. I have bad feelings for a company that takes advantage of loyal customers. NEVER AGAIN. In the PC world My customers can tell me to go take a hike and buy from a Zillion other competitors - competition is great - the customer wins. In short - The PC with fierce competition in the s/w and h/w place is winning and winning strong. There are over 100 MILLION PCs in the world today. Intel owns greater than 70% of the WORLDS CPU Market. There are over 35 different choices for Operating Systems on the PC - You see the PCs strength is in FLEXIBILITY - not Proprietary do whatever the manufacturer has decided you can do with the system. Apples market share is declining. I have been told that Apple's biggest buyers (i.e. Eli Lilly, Dupont) are mandating only Windows machines for new purchases. Harris Corp. among many others are also mandating Windows machines. Although Apple does sell alot - the tide is turning and I see customers everyday that tell me that they are ready to make the change over to Windows95. BYE APPLE - your tombstone will read - THANKS - BUT THEN AGAIN - NO THANKS. ====================================================================================== Eb Farris, ANC PC's Forever Linux, FreeBSD, WinNT, Win95 efarris@surfusa.com Solaris ...
