INDUSTRY NEWS

Ample Computer Co. announced that recent, independent tests
confirm its BigMac computers run "Turtle LOGO" programs at
least 42.3456 % faster than computers based on the Inlet
Whopper chip. The BigMac was able to complete the standard
"draw a circle, draw a house, fill, go home and clear screen"
benchmark at an astounding rate of 10 tps (turtles per
second).

Inlet Corporation representatives pointed out, however, that
the LOGO benchmark is flawed, since it depends heavily on the
skill of the operator. Ample uses students from Altadena
High as operators, whereas the benchmark specifies students
from Encino Elementary. An Ample spokesperson claimed the
difference was immaterial, and the decision to use high
school students reflects "real world conditions in modern
high schools."

In a related story, Inlet apologized to an angry Gary
Kasparov, who was recently beaten at championship Solitaire
by the Inlet "Big Box 'O Chips" computer. It was disclosed
Tuesday that the Inlet computer omitted 10% of the cards,
making it impossible for Kasparov to win. "They weren't
really important cards" said an unidentified Inlet spokesman,
"just a Jack, a 4, and two 1's."
