Compare MacOS (the currently : shipping version) applications with Windows 3.1 applications and : shipping 32-bit Windows applications with shipping Copland applications. : What gives? Umm... yah. The difference between 32bit and 16bit windows apps, is analogous to the difference between PPC native and 68k apps (even though both are 32bit). But, *you* think that the difference between all currently avalaibe MacOS applications and 16bit Windows applications, is directly analagous to all 32bit Windows applications and all Copland applications (which of course do not exist). Were sucking on a bong when you wrote that? Let's straighten this out. First, lets forget about Copland. We all know that there aren't any Copland applications (which was your point of course). Second, realize that all 10,000+ Macitosh applications are all 32bit. Thirdly, take into consideration the analogy that I proposed above between 32bit/16bit Windows apps and PPC/68k Macintosh apps. It is logical to compare this difference, because both platform are undergoing very similar changes. The Mac is moveing form 68k to PPC, and Wintel is moving from 16bit to 32bit. On both sides, applications must be re-compiled and in most instances, re-writen to take advantage of the new system. PPC code for Macs and 32bit code for Windows95 and NT. A little different.. but the same difference. :) So compareing this change is most certainly logical and relevant. There are currently over 200 32bit Windows apps, to 1500+ PPC native apps. Conversly, there are proabably 30,000+ 16bit Windows apps, and well over 10,000+ 68k Macintosh apps. Useing this analogy, and knowing that some day the idea of 32bit applications will eventualy catch on in the PC industry, we can conclude that the number of 32bit Windows apps will someday over take the number of PPC native Macintosh applications. A completely pointless and useless bit of information. HAVE FUN! -Kevin Stone
