Fortunately, for Apple and Microsoft, > the users don't know this :-) Depends on what your design goals are. If your goals are stability than WinNT and Unix meet their goals better. If you goals are usability, understandability, consistancy, metaphore, ease of use, productivity and a lower level of stability then Macs are DEFINITELY designed better. > A system which crashes and freezes frequently is definitely not in the > users best interests! That is, excepting the users with masochistical > inclinations :-) How frequent is frequent?! Are most people willing to handle crashes once per day if they are more productive over all?!?! Answer - YES. On Macs they can expect much less frequent crashes than that. So frequent to you may be once/month... but for a user this is a reasonable sacrafice for the added configurability, reliability, ease of use, productivity, etc. > P.S. NT is actually a mixture of user driven and technology driven. > The net result is that it failed to convince both Joe User's and > computer literate users :-) In other words it is NOT user driven, and NOT technology driven, and fails to offer a compelling reason to get it for either. Only purist engineers, or server apps offer a compelling reason of yet. -- David K. Every | MaciDo Warrior - The Macintosh Way Sr. Software Engineer | Jostens Learning Corp. |
