In case you haven't noticed, Microsoft has already won the entire : war. Heck, Bill Gates could write a personal check an BUY Apple if he : wanted just to get the software technology<g>. No he couldnt. They wouldnt sell. Why would they?? Their computers are making a comeback in a big way, and market share is increasing. : Linux? I love it, but the find of ferver needed to use and enjoy linux is : lmited to about 1% of today's computer users. Warp? A techi's delight, : but again it is of NO interest to the mass of average users. : What I HAVE noticed is that the technology of the future (hw and sw) is : appearing on almost every platform other than the PC well in advance. I : have managed to stay ahead of the curve buy using other platforms, and : this has really benefitted me in the job market. Mac development skills : were a big help when Windows replaced DOS. Unix expertise gets higher : salaries, especially with the current internet frenzy. Unix SQL : experience put me ahead of the curve when the client/server thing : started. Playing with NeXTstep gave me a lot of OO experience once it : showed up in a major way on PC's. You'd think that the PC would get all of the new software stuff first, being the largest market and all. I guess it all boils down to the idea that "minority" computer systems (ie Amiga's, Apple's, Linux's, OS/2's) have a greater ratio of people willing to put their home computers to good use (such as programming) : WT
