In article <danpop.807468158@rscernix> Dan.Pop@mail.cern.ch (Dan Pop) writes: >If this is true, I guess you wouldn't mind posting here the complete >list of programs run by the Executor. Here is the entire appnotes file from Executor 1.99k, the latest DOS demo version available on oak.oakland.edu (I assume the DOS and Linux versions are similar enough in capability that the Linux version's list is similar, but I don't have a TAR program on the machine at work so I didn't check): ============================ While we're still finding and fixing major bugs related to our color implementation, we're *not* doing much extensive testing of applications. In general, right now we're looking for and fixing as many color related (and an occasional filesystem related) bugs. After we have those under control, we'll hire some student workers and do more exhaustive testing. The purpose of this list currently is to give you an idea of what we're working on and the general class that various applications fit into. The possible classes are: Green -- thoroughly tested; no bugs that would prevent the vast majority of users from using this application. Yellow -- less well tested or known bugs that prevent some functionality from being usable. At a minimum, the application must be able to read and display its own document types. Orange -- Will take mouse and keyboard events, but has enough major bugs to make the application unusable. Red -- Will not come up, but is still considered a target for a better class by the time 2.0 ships. Black -- Will not come up no, nor is it expected to when 2.0 ships (with possible System 7 spoofing exceptions). Ether -- Application hasn't been tested yet but has already been purchased or ordered This file should only contain listings for "commercial" software. Shareware, Demoware and Freeware will be in a separate file. The comments after the "--" may contain jargon that only ARDI employees understand. Maelstrom is a freaking asteroids game--why should you need a P-90 for it to be playable!? Note further that there are NO programs on this list that are code green (known to work flawlessly). Here are a few important programs that do not work: Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop (most popular Mac image manipulation software) Aldus PageMaker ClarisWorks (most popular Mac integrated package) CodeWarrior FileMaker Pro (most popular Mac database) Microsoft Works Microsoft Word (most popular Mac word processor) Microsoft Excel (most popular Mac spreadsheet) Norton Utilities Quark XPress Executor in its current form is simply not acceptable as a Mac substitute, and it is certainly ludicrous to claim as one person did that Executor "out Macs the Mac." -Ericb@psu.edu
