Acctuly, this has already been an issue on CNN... Many many
people are concerned that many users will not realize that there is a
conventional method (post card) and reluctantly go ahead with the
procceedure the registration wizard requires. In the CNN article, it was
analogized as a sort of corporate fine print.. or words to that effect.
The CNN article also showed clipped interviews from Microsoft's
marketing manager. He sternly said that Microsoft will not use this
information to help them target markets in anyway. They will also never
sell this information to comapnies who may wish to learn all they can
about thier status through the MSN users, thus no profit will be
accumulated through the existance of the wizard.
However, there are those who beleive that Microsoft won't be able
to contain a vault of 24k gold and not sneek a peek every once in a
while. I tend to agree. But then again, Microsoft is such a large
company, that it might be successful in policing it's self. But, the
inforamtion gathered is so valuable to so many people, I see coruption
as being inevitable. But, who knows? :\
