My opinion on why Moto have pulled Win95 is that their corporate
security dept suddenly realised that Win95 comes with the MSN and that
they were suddenly acquiring lots of internet access points into
their machines which were not being controlled/monitored etc.
I would assume that Moto probably have the same security considerations
as we (SGS-THOMSON) do and external connections to internet is a real
area of concern - part of the corporate security policy here is that
*no* "internal" machine is accessible from the outside world (via
internet or otherwise) and all our external connections route through
a small number of firewall machines.
Whether or not Win9x or MSN actually sends any info the fact that it
is giving an internet connection from inside the "internal" network
is almost certainly sufficient to get it banned from installation.
I would expect that MS will probably have to produce a special version
of win9x which omits MSN for many corporate accounts!
