WINBOOT.SYS combines MSDOS.SYS and : IO.SYS into one file (strangely enough tho, it's still listed as MSDOS in the : MEM command). Although it does have features that suggest it's still loading : 100% DOS before loading the GUI, it's not. "MS-DOS 7.0" has changes made : underneath the surface. Try installing a copy of Windows 3.x and running it : under MS-DOS 7, it won't run. You are WRONG. In Win 95, there most certainly IS an MSDOS.SYS. Take a look, it's there. However, it's NOT what you expect. It is there for programs that expect to see one. It's just a text file. And as for your DOS 7 and Win 3.1 comment, it most certainly does. I have a couple of batch files, called 95.bat and 31.bat. If I want to go into Win 3.1, I boot to the command prompt only mode, and type 31, hit enter, and I get old Windoze. If I want Windows 95 after I'm done with 3.1, I just exit Windows, type 95 and hit enter. All the batch files do is change some paths around.. -- Jason Costomiris | Finger for PGP 2.6.2 Public Key jcostom@netaxs.com | "...You'll sweat grease."
