The Mac has filename completion. If you have an open window with
files and folders, typing the first few letters shifts the focus
to the file/folder starting with those letters. You can open
a file or folder from the keyboard, as well, and proceed down
the hierarchy.

Followup to alt.test removed from Aron Guptas reply to Dan Pop (doesn't
Aron dare to get any replies from Dan???).

Just one thing who makes me very curious. How can a person who works
for AT&T not like Unix and prefer MacOS instead?

I should feel priviledged to work for the company who is the father
behind Unix! An OS who is over 25 years old and still one of the most
modern OSes.

I just can't get that you work for AT&T and prefers Mac:s!

No, it is a way to force the responder to make an explicit decision about
what newsgroups he/she wants to post to.

How do you draw the above conclusion ?

Having seen your posts on the net, I would think you should feel
privileged just to work.

No best regards,

OK. Strange usenet practice, but I accept your explanation of your behavior.

Well, That's what Kerningham and Ritchie have been doing the last few years,
programming for the Mac in Pascal.

Well, That's what Kerningham and Ritchie have been doing the last few
years,

Good. I hope they've finally learned somethimg about good, consistent user
interfaces.

Sure, that's what I need. A pretty picture with a "clickable" cute
button.
Who cares if it has any real merit?
No, apparently no-one.

Speed, power flexibility, etc. are for dummies. What people need is
a way to click on an icon.

Mac users, why don't you consider trading your computer
for a Super-NES? It's much simpler and has a better interface.

(It only has 2 buttons! Imagine that!)

Actually, the crack about Nintendo is pretty close to the mark.

Super Mario Brothers and company are considered the Holy Grail of
Computer-Human Interface design.

I take it this is a joke. Kernighan & Ritchie writing in Pascal ?
One of them (can't remember which) wrote :
"Why Pascal is not my favorite programming language"
