Is there anybody out there who has PsiMail Internet working with Demon? I've been trying for ages without any joy. The modem connection seems to be OK but PsiMail bombs out while waiting for "HELLO" at the end of the login. The log file finishes something like this :- Type Argument ==== ======== Wait to receive string "ocol:" Sent string to port "PPP" Sent string to port ",idle=120" Wait to receive string "HELLO" Script error Line busy I'm using the "demon.prv" file from Psion's web site, and I can make a connection from my PC using the same modem/line. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA, Barrie

I've never even heard of this package, let alone used it; however, I
would query why you are splitting the "PPP,idle=120" response to the
"ocol:" prompt into two separate strings, since I assume the s/w will
send '\r' after each of them, which you definitely don't want to do.

"Where do you want to go today?", ask M$. According to their TV adverts:
"confutatis maledictis, flammis acribus addictis...", which means:
"the damned and accused are convicted to flames of Hell"!

I spent a whole day with the same problem. Eventually some helpful guy
at Psion support said he had heard that Demon had changed their logon.
You need to edit the Demon script and remove the line which says
"stop scipt when "fail" received"
When this line is removed it works (for me anyway)!

The log file finishes something like this :- > [snip] > Wait to receive string "HELLO" > Script error Line busy Somebody had a similar problem (see comp.sys.psion.comm), because the message of the day contained "fail". I notice that the current motd has "COLT fault message when busy". Note the "busy". It looks like the PsiMail dial script is very sensitive to stop words. I don't know if you can get PsiMail to only look for the upper-case version of the words, since that is normally how a modem presents them. There was a problem once when Demon put "NO CARRIER" in the motd! I think if you are willing to put up with the default settings (eg idle timeout), then you can switch into PPP after the CONNECT, and use PAP authentication. -- `O O' | Nick.Holloway@alfie.demon.co.uk http://www.alfie.demon.co.uk/ // ^ \\ | Nick.Holloway@parallax.co.uk http://www.parallax.co.uk/~alfie/
