Hi,

I'd like to know if the forthcoming new Ericcson GS18 GSM cellular phone
will allow data transfers on any data port ? (I'd like to connect a GSM
solution to a PowerBook without PCMCIA slot and to a Newton 2000's
standard serial port.

The Nokia new Cellular Data Suite is driven by a Win 95 only software
which emulated the work of usual PCMCIA cards.. as the Ericcson GS18
press release, the information is as usual ambigeous.

Thank you for any information regarding the above lines or related to
this GS18.

I think what you mean is, will it work off any standard RS-232 serial port?
The answer is yes. Furthermore, it works with regular AT commands, so no
special comms software or drivers are required. Any terminal package will
happily talk to it.

The Nokia 8110 ("banana") also does this. You can also (with the bundled
software) send SMS using the PC's keyboard.

Is this the same for the nk502 (Orange's custom version?)

Hi

Does anyone have an Ericsson GS18.

I have some tech. questions that can probably be seen in the manual.

Does the GS18 understand the command ATS2=128 ??? And what does it mean
on the GS18.

Kind Regards
Hans Olav
