Sequent was founded on January 17, 1983. The Balance (32XXX) family
was announced in September 1984. Beta of Symmetry (80386 based) was
at the end of 1987, with production early in 1988. Symmetry 2000
(80486 based) shipped in early 1991, and most recently 50Mhz 80486
systems with VME bus IO and a new disk subsystem were announced in
January 1992 (selected customer shipments occurred in Q4 1991 - we
were in production prior to the official product announcement.)
