How are users counted?

We have a license for 32 users running ptx 1.4.0 and are running into
the limitation quite often. However, it seems that there are still
methods of logging into the system without the 'too many users'
message showing up.

We have users connecting via: rlogin, telnet, lat, xterminals, x25, and
through a protocol converter (vista box) via ethernet. Quite often
we end up with 45-55 users logged in.

How does ptx determine who is a real user and who is a pseudo user, and
which does 'login' use to determine who can sign in and who can't.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
