SCSI LaserWriter Connection?

To the SGI community:

My apologies for the crossposting but I'm not sure what the most
adequate subgroup for my question would be.

I have an Apple Personal LaserWriter SC (which connects to computers
via SCSI interface only) and I'm trying to hook it up to an Indigo. The
"Add Printer" tool allows the specification of SCSI as a connection type but
the problem is that it doesn't allow me to choose any of the standard printer
types to go with that connection type (when I choose a printer type from the
menu, it blanks out SCSI connection type and defaults to Serial Port). I
think that means I'm missing some printer description software or printer
driver but I'm not sure. Does anybody have any experience using SCSI printers
with the Indigo? Am I missing some special software? If so, does anybody
know how to obtain the printer driver (as far as I know, apple laserwriters
only come with printer software for Mac's). I would appreciate any help
or advice you might provide.

I would appreciate also, if replies could be directed to my personal e-mail
account, which is sergio@newton.mbi.ucla.edu.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Sergio H. Rotstein.

That configuration option was intended for specific SCSI printers supported
under Impressario, ie. Kodak XL7700. Without the appropriate SCSI drivers,
it probably won't work. Choosing the serial or parallel interface is the
best option.

That's for printers like the genicom. The LW SC has no PostScript
capability, and is a simple bitmap printer *ONLY*. One of the devscsi
programs in 4Dgifts/examples/devices/devscsi is for this printer, but
the big jobs is in getting the files you want to print in the bitmap
format that printer uses.
