Help with Logical Volumes, Please...

Has anybody really tried using Logical Volumes on the Indigo? I have
4.0.5F running with two 1.6GB disks attached, and would like to make them
both into a lv0 drive.

I can do this, but df reports only 1.6GB of space total, and less avail.
Is there still a 2GB unix filesystem size? I used mklv with a /etc/lvtab
of:

lv0:Volume 0:devs=/dev/dsk/dks0d1s6, /dev/dsk/dks0d5s7

lvck runs fine and reports no problems. What's up? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve

It sounds like you need to use growfs(1M) to expand the file system.

After you made the logical volume did you create a new file system or
grow the old file system that used to live on /dev/dsk/dks0d1s6? If
you _had_ a previous file system in dks0d1s6 and then created a file
system around it and dks0d5s7, you would only see the file system that
was already there, and you would have to do a 'growfs /dev/dsk/lv0'
(with the _file system_ unmounted!) or a 'mkfs /dev/dsk/lv0' (also with
dks0d1s6 unmounted). Make sure to also make a new /dev/usr and
/dev/rusr to match /dev/dsk/lv0 and /dev/rdsk/lv0. --

Logical volumes work fine on the Indigo, if lvck lv0 reports
no problems then umount /dev/dsk/dks0d1s6 (/usr?), run mklv to
create the lv device and have the disk labels updated then run
growfs on /dev/rdsk/lv0 and remount. Piece of cake.
