I am looking for a logging version of ftpd.
one that: what logins were tried,
tells me what directories the user went to,
	what files they took,
and what files the placed here (or tried)

I had one for 4.3BSD. I would like one for the SGI.
I already looked on sgi.com.
any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike
any help would be appreciated

Have you looked at the ftpd(1M) man page?

an excerpt:
    :
If the -l option is specified, each ftp session login is logged in the
    syslog.
    :

What information is logged is not described in detail, but from experience,
I can tell you that it does what you want.

Actually, you can add more `l' (e.g -lll) for more info. I think
	this is not documented however.

instead of just using the -l option for invoking ftpd (in inetd.conf)
use -lll (it is undocumented but gives you more verbose information)

Okay, I'll admit it. I didn't RTFM, because I ASSUMED SGIs' version was
simular to Suns'.
Once again SGI has proved me wrong, in the right way.

Thanks,
Mike.
