I want to post a few pictures to the pictures newsgroup. The images are in SGI Imagelib format. I converted them to gif format and viewed in SUN workstation (If I post the SGI Imagelib files, pictures can be seen only in IRIS workstations). Unfortunately quality of the image is really poor. (One reason I can think of, is, GIF is 8-bit color based whereas SGI Imagelib is minimum 24bit color, possibly JPEG may be helpful. Is there anyway I can convert SGI Imagelib to JPEG format straight?) Or is there any simple way to improve the quality of GIF file? Thanks, Jey.
