Maybe I am just too dense to see the obvious, but how can I have a Motif application come up with a 24-bit shell? I need a 24-bit DrawingArea, and I can't use a GLX widget because that would be nonportable. Trying to fiddle with the shell XmNvisual is either ignored or terminates the application. Replacing XtAppInitialize() with an explicit Xt incantation and supplying appropriate arguments to XtAppCreateShell() doesn't help either. I always get "Visual: 0x25 (8 bit PseudoColor)" (says xwininfo). Thanks for your help, Thomas -- -- Thomas Driemeyer thomas@bitrot.in-berlin.de voice: +49 30 8924936
