Q: Cylinders in Inventor vs. Explorer...

Hi,

In Explorer, a cylinder is defined by a beginning point, an ending point,
and a radius.

In Inventor, only the height and radius are specified.

How do I emulate the action of the Explorer function call via Inventor?
SoTransform with a translation and a rotation?

Thanks,
Dan

Yes. The translation will be the midpoint (center of cylinder) and for the
rotation use SbRotation(fromVec, toVec) where fromVec = (0,1,0) and toVec =
ending - beginning point.

Sure. You can make any changes you want to the scene graph even after
giving it to the viewer. By default the viewer only insert a camera (if it
doesn't find one) and possibly other stuff outside of the scene graph root
that you supply, so your scene graph topology shouldn't change. When you
change the scene (say replace sepA with something else) a redraw will
later happen, but the camera will not change position.

Glad you like it....
