The Project:
We are working with some of the giants of the entertainment and cable TV
industry to bring multimedia applications into the home. These "Interactive TV"
systems will be client/server based. The clients will be set top boxes to which
applications will be downloaded from servers. These set top boxes will contain
system software and will receive various downloaded libraries and applications.
We need to create the system software and libraries for audio, 3D graphics and
audio/video data compression to be utilized by iTV applications. These systems
will enable never before seen applications to be delivered into the home.

Common Traits for all the following jobs-
All of the following Engineers must be GOOD programmers.
Must know C and at least one OOP, thus being able to ramp up on C++ rapidly.
MIPS Assembler is not required but might prove helpful.
We demand proven performers that know how to build and ship not just talk around
the issues.

% Audio Engineer
You must have the expertise to develop and implement audio libraries and design
the audio toolkit. Specifically, we are looking for someone who is
knowledgeable in audio signal processing and audio synthesis, and can design an
audio tool kit. You must have extensive knowledge of audio algorithms and have
the ability to implement them onto hardware. In addition, we would like you to
evaluate 3rd party audio software for licensing. Familiarity with 3D audio
(surround sound) is a plus. We are looking for an individual who is
knowledgeable of the trade-offs between HW and SW implementations and is not a
DSP programmer.

% 3D Graphics Engineer
This person must know OpenGL. We are looking for an individual who can
construct a new 3D graphics interface that is to be object-oriented and ported
across different set top boxes. You must be extremely knowledgeable in 3D
graphics and an object-oriented design expert. Since interactive TV is an
emerging technology you must have a high level of creativity. Gamers with
experience in distributed environments would be well suited here.

% Video Engineer
We are looking for an individual who is extremely knowledgeable in MPEG 2 and
can implement it in a set top box for interactive TV. A knowledge of using MPEG
2 with video is required, as is an understanding of different multi-resolution
compression schemes. This knowledge must extend down to the transport layer.
We are not looking for a video compression algorithm expert per se. An
understanding MPEG 2 with audio is a plus. You must have a systems level
understanding of MPEG 2, its design and its flaws, and can compare and contrast
MPEG 1 and MPEG 2.

% Multimedia System Engineer
This job would be responsible for porting our software to new set top/server
O/S's as they become available. We are seeking a strong systems level
programmer with solid object oriented design skills who can apply those skills
to low level design work. We require an engineer who is methodical, who knows
multithreaded systems, and can build systems.

% Hardware Architect
We are looking for an individual to design a low cost set top box for
interactive TV. We need someone who understands audio, video, MPEG 2,
networking, and modulation/demodulation at the chip level. This individual must
be able to evaluate both in-house and third party technologies and be able to
implement them into a low cost set top box.

We offer :
We are the bleeding edge when it comes to iTV and multimedia. We have the only
currently operating iTV system.
An Engineering Environment that is intensely focused and hard-working but we
still manage to mix in a beer party on Fridays.
% We have a corporate culture which values engineers who build product and over
those who talk about doing it.
% We are committed to a leadership role in this emerging multi-billion $ market
and we have the resources to make it happen.
% You can be responsible for leading the way into never before seen areas of
graphical power and creativity on the desktop and in the home.
% We pride ourselves in the high quality of our software engineering, the
innovation of our ideas and the outrageously cool graphics that can be created
with our systems.

Next Step :
In this industry everything should have happened yesterday so let's work quickly
to determine if this represents the right next step for you. The company offers
highly competitive base salary (negotiable depending on experience, but salary
will not get in the way of us hiring a superstar), bonus, stock program, 401k
and full benefits. Relocation assistance is provided as required and is
comprehensive.

All inquiries are to be through the TransPacific Group and are strictly
confidential. Mark DeWitt is the primary interface with the client and will
work closely with you once we've received your resume..
