Backup and Restore problems on 4D25 using 4.01 IRIX

I am having problems using the "Backup and Restore" utility from the
System Manager menu. Backing up the machine which has the tape device
is no problem, but using that drive for backing up other machines on
the local net gives me an "unable to open remote tape device" error.

I have set the guest account on both machines to no password and root
group and user, but still get the same results. This used to work
under 4.00, but doesn't under 4.01. (we're an art school, and can't
afford an update to the current 4.05?? version until a grant comes
our way....any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Turn on rsh logging in /usr/adm/SYSLOG by adding the '-L' option
to the rshd line in /usr/etc/inetd.conf, followed by
/etc/killall -HUP inetd, then do it again, to see what
the error is.

Also, you can try just running 'mt -t guest@remote:/dev/nrtape status'
and see what, if any error you get (on the machine without the drive).
There are no known problems in this area, aside from system configuration
on the users/admin's part.
