It took us a while (3+ months!) to get around to trying out the FORTRAN compiler on our Crimson/VGX [too many other neat things to play with ;-) ], but upon doing so we discovered that f77 (actually ugen) core dumps on even the most trivial code: program test write(*,*) '!11-PDP eht edisni deppart m''I !pleH' stop end The error message is usually: Fatal error in: /usr/lib/ugen Signal 10 - core dumped although on occasion I've gotten a SIG 11 while playing with compiler options. I called the TAC (call #151880) but was regretfully informed that the warranty on our Crimson had expired (paperwork for a maintenance agreement is lost somewhere in the NASA bureaucracy). I'm sure something is just incorrectly installed. We are running Irix 4.0.5_, with 3.4.1 ftn.* and the 3.4.4 maint_ftn.* images. I have re-installed the maint updates, but not the entire Fortran package. Any clues or quick fixes? Or should I just re-install everything? Or is it something else seemingly unrelated?
