I recently upgraded our two 4D70TG's to 4.0.1: machine: slow - cpu: MIPS R2000A/R3000 16Meg machine: dogslow - cpu: MIPS R2000A/R3000 8Meg Since updating, these machines run very slowly whenever any window operations are performed. The 16Meg machine runs at an almost tolerable pace, but the other machine just crawls. There doesn't seem to be any abnormal processes running, but gr_top on dogslow shows alot of CPU activity with Xsgi, though Xsgi isn't growing too quickly. Is the problem that dogslow doesn't have enough memory for X? If so, how can I prove this to justify the purchase of more memory (if it's available)? PS - installing 4.0.5 gives the same result --Mike Bergeron mberger@relay.nswc.navy.mil --EG&G (WASC) Dahlgren, VA. 22448
