I appologize if this is not the correct group for this question. I know SiliconGraphics is part of the Advance Computing Environment collaboration and thought this would be better than most places to get information. Where can I get information on ACE. I would like information on the requirements for a machine and/or operating system to be considered ACE compliant. Please email any responses to kostj@ecst.csuchico.edu. Warning, personal opinion follows ;)
ACE is dead. It died the last little bit when Compaq decided that
they weren't interested. Sure, the consortium still exists, and
people may declare that their systems or software are ACE compliant,
but basicly, nobody will care.

I don't think there are any. NT sort of comes close to what was
envisioned as an O/S, but not really. There are some ACE specifications
on hardware and software interfaces, but I don't know where you would
go to get them, and I suspect it is completely irrelevant to any
machine you might buy.
