I would like to have the following keymap (using a US-keyboard/layout)
of the "[" key:

[                 ->    [  (bracketleft)
<shift>+[         ->    {  (braceleft)
<alt>+[ -> ae (lower case Norwegian letter "ae")
<alt>+<shift>+[ -> AE (capital Norwegian letter "AE")

I have tried this .xmodmaprc

keycode 56 = bracketleft braceleft ae AE
keycode 91 = Alt_L Meta_L Mode_switch
keycode 92 = Alt_R Meta_R Mode_switch

This works as desired for csh in a xterm window, but not in a xwsh window.

I have also tried the following .xmodmaprc

keycode 56 = bracketleft braceleft ae AE
keycode 92 = Mode_switch Meta_R
add mod1 = Mode_switch

This works as desired for csh in a xterm window, and also partly for a
xwsh window. However, <alt>+<shift>+[ only sends the lower case "ae",
not capital "AE" in the xwsh window.

("keycode 56 = ae AE" works fine with normal unshift and shift.)

Help is much appreciated.
