I can't help but wonder if an audio : readout from tape to a sound card would not suffer from the same : problem. Well, I dunno about using a sound card, but one of the Cosiners has made up a transfer system that can read C64 tape signals (saved with his own tape loader) and transfer them to an Amiga via a sampler. But he has also managed to make the Amiga emulate the same tape signal so that he can write (different) files back to tape by recording the Amiga's sound output and loading it back in at the C64 end! Can't see why it won't work with a sound card! (Slight PS, it is possible to copy tapes with audio decks, but its best to use mono decks (like the ones people used to use with Spectrums). If possible its better to get two datasette's and a doubler!) Jason =-)
