OK.

3.1X is statically linked (Version 3.1).

The 3.1A CD (Version 3.1A) contains both X and OL versions.  maker3X.exe is
dynamically linked but fmbatch, rpc.frameusersd and fmprintdriver are
statically linked.

The OL version contains all dyamically linked executables except fmMfont2bfont.

Unfortunately, you can't used OL fm* commands for the X version.

Don't know yet what happens if you move the X maker3X.exe to the OL directory.

But it is probable that the OL version will work with Solaris 2.1.  I'll find
out more later this week as a test in my spare time.
