I recently "inherited" an Alphatronix Inspire dual 5.25" MO optical disk
drive.  I have the paper docs, but I lack the media / drivers for my Sun
Sparc station.  Even if I had the inspire media, the old owners had it only
running on a 4.1 system.  I powered the drives up and connected them to my
4.1.3 generic kernel sun4 sparc and could mount the drives that were
previously formatted just fine w/o any alphatronix drivers or additions to
the OS.  From the sun monitor probe-scsi command I see that they are SONY
drives.

During boot, I get:

I, however, had trouble formatting and newfs'ing any additional media and
was wondering if there were any "free" way of getting help on this.  During
a newfs, I get (what I think is) way too many backup superblocks.  I am
using 512 byte rather than 1024 or 2048 byte media, so it should work.  I
only say free because our budget is really tight and just about spent for
the fiscal year.  If I don't get the drives up and running, I will have to
let it go to the excess equipment bin.

I tried the e-mail address of support@alphatronix.com and got nothing, not
even a reply.

PS: Has anyone made IOMEGA Bernoulli drives work on a sun?  I have a 44 and
a 150, and was wondering...  I experimented and got them sort of working.
I just need to find the geometry of these beasts.  Rumor has it that there
was an article on IOMEGA zip drives on the net, has anyone seen it or have
it?
