using Apollo Domain 19" monitors with Sun's

I've recently been given a bunch of Apollo Domain 3000 machines with 19"
colour monitors. All of the monitors work, and I expect that their specs
are capable of handling Sun video signals, except that there is one snag.

These monitors only have three inputs, so I am presuming that the sync
signal that is supplied as a seperate output on Sun framebuffers needs to
be combined with one of the colour gun drive signals, presumably the green
signal. The question is though - how do I do this?

I wouldn't expect that I can simply drop a T-piece into the green signal
line and plug both the green signal and the sync signal together that way.
Other people I've spoken to say it's possible but I need to buffer both
the sync and green signals before combining them somehow.

Are there devices available to do this, or is it possible to transform a
Sun video output into one suitable for a 3-connector monitor?

I'm curious to know if anyone has attempted to feed a Sun video signal
into a monitor that appears to need sync on one of the colour gun drives.

Thanks in advance,

Craig.
