I have an interesting problem when using the sound capabilities of the Sun SPARC. I want to generate a continuous background sound which will sometimes change frequence. The continious sound itself is no big deal, I just do something like 'write(fd_out, (char *)out_bufA[freq], remain)' continuously. But when I want to change frequence I run into two problems. When I change it something strange happens and it starts to sound awful - there's a very disturbing background noice. Second, I want to change the frequence immediately - which means that I will have to empty the buffer with 'ioctl(fd_out, I_FLUSH, FLUSHW)' - but this also make it sound awful. Does anyone know a solution to this? What's important is that I need a sound that is continuous and can change fast! Thanks!
