As a CS major (or an intended one), I've wanted to buy a computer for a long
time.  The problem was that the things I could afford were not fast enough
for my programming needs.  I wanted a Mac IIfx  / 486 / NeXT.

I finally got the chance to buy a Plexus P60+.  This machine, for the
majority of you who have never heard of it, is a 68020 machine running
SYSV.  It has 24 serial ports, a full-size magtape drive, and two fujitsu
super eagle 545 MB hard drives.

It is also very heavy.

Have I mentioned yet that I live on the second floor of a non-elevator
apartment house?  Didn't think so. . .

After having taken the tape drive out (about 100 pounds), it took me and
four of my friends approximately 30 minutes to get it up the stairs.  There
were 17 of them. . . BTW, the stairs have since broken, and are now being
fixed.

The thing is a monster.  Weighs around 500-600 pounds, 5" high, 3" wide, 2"
deep.  It generates a fair amount of heat, especially since it's in my
bedroom, which is very small. . . It's basically a combination computer /
jet engine / heater...

But considering the fact that I paid $801 for it. . .
