My school has recently obtained a donation of 4 TI Explorers,
without any documentation. Can someone give me the
contact (address or phone number) within TI for
   obtaining doc's? Thanks.

Subject: TI spare parts

The following is a part of a business article from Austin's daily
newsparer, Austin-American-Statesman, Oct. 26, 1992, titled ...
'slick deal'.

===================================================================
When Texas Instruments decided to sell its Austin-based Unix
computer business, the company had a warehouse full of inventory in
Houston it wanted to unload.

Enter United Computer Group of San Diego, Calif., which bought TI's
inventory for a fraction of the $3 million tag TI had placed on it.

So now, Eli Schwartz, United'd president, says his company is the
nation's leading provider of spare and refurbished parts for three
models of TI computers: the old 990 mini-computers, the AT(?) 1500
Unix computers and the Explorer, which TI developed in the mid-1980s
to capitalize on a boom in artificial intelligence applications that
never materialized.

Schwarts says he'll sell the inventory to TI's established market of
more than 30,000 businesses in this country and thousands more in
Europe.

"For us, it was a very slick deal," Schwarts said. "It's successful
already. I have enough orders to pay for what I paid" for the
inventory.
