I finally did a bunch of testing on the batch of hardware I got last
month. I have a couple of items I don't recognize, and wondered if you
could tell me what they are (or perhaps someone at TI could look up
the PWB number and tell me)...

item #1:

ASSY # 2535880-0001
PWB # 2535881-0001
SCHEMATIC # 2535882-0001

this thing claims to be a "S/W PROTECT ADAPTOR"

so what is it? never saw one before. it was plugged into the backside
of the card cage, in the middle row.

item #2:

PWB # 2236591-0001

says "SIB" on it, but it't not the monochrome SIB. is it a color SIB?
it does have a battery, but it's the flat kind, not the long orange
one that the monochrome SIBs had. it has many of the same chips as the
mono SIBs, but is laid out completely different. I haven't seen a
color SIB since late '88, so I don't recognize this.

any ideas?

PS. Bill von Hagen, you were going to send me something about manuals?

This goes with the LX "Unix" board. It prevents unauthorized use of Unix, or some
such fascistic constraint.

Sounds like a prototype monochrome SIB. There was one in that batch of stuff.
My Petersen's Board Spotters Guide lists the round flat battery as a distinctive
feature.
