Has anyone take the time to implement INMOS C functionality using Sun
library calls? For example, I could see them implemented using sockets
   or the Sun LWP library.

This is a good idea but I don't know of anyone who has done this yet.
If anyone starts this then you might consider NOT using LWP in an effort
to be more portable to other platforms.
